Solar Power Project-Arghakhanchi

A new 10 megawatt (MW) solar power project will be built in Arghakhanchi, Nepal. The project is being developed by Arga Bhagwati Ventures Pvt. Ltd. in the Sandhikharka Municipality.

Details of the Project According to the Department of Electricity Development, the solar project received approval on 27th of Mangsir (Nepali month). The project has completed the preliminary environmental study and the detailed project proposal.

The main structure of the project will be located in Arghakhanchi, which is part of Lumbini Province. The solar power plant is expected to produce 19.95 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually.

Location and Equipment The solar project will be built on approximately 12,000 hectares of land in Sandhikharka Ward No. 3. It will use solar photovoltaic panels to generate direct current (DC) electricity. The power will be converted into alternating current (AC) electricity by 20 string inverters, each with a capacity of 500 kilowatts, to produce 10 MW of electricity.

The electricity generated will be connected to the national grid through a 33 kV transmission line and will be supplied to the Arga Substation of the Nepal Electricity Authority.

Project Timeline The project is scheduled to be completed by the month of Ashoj (October) in 2083 (Nepali calendar).
