11th Nepal Amateur Open 2025

The Nepal Golf Association is hosting the 11th Nepal Amateur Open Golf Championship from June 3 to 5, 2025, at the prestigious 72-par Gokarna Golf Club. The tournament will bring together top amateur players from Nepal and across South Asia.

Five Nations Compete in 54-Hole Tournament

The championship features a three-day, 54-hole competition with players from five South Asian countries: Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and India. According to Nepal Golf Association President Tasi Ghale, both individual and team events will be held for men.

Each country will select two male players for the team competition. The winner will be decided based on the combined score after 36 holes. Nepal, as the host nation, will field two teams.

Individual and Women’s Events Details

For the men’s individual event, a cut will be applied after 36 holes. The top 60 percent of players will advance to the final 18 holes. The women’s competition will see participation from players representing Nepal and India.

Though all South Asian countries were invited, Pakistan chose not to participate, and Maldives does not have a golf course. Therefore, only players from five countries will compete.

Nepal Amateur Open Expected Player Participation and Registration

A total of 45 male and 10 female golfers are expected to take part. Nepal Golf Association expects around 30 to 35 players from Nepal alone. Registration remains open until Sunday, so the number of participants may increase.

This championship is officially recognized by the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). Players will earn ranking points, enhancing their global amateur golf standing.

Promoting Amateur Golf and Youth Development in South Asia

The Nepal Amateur Open Golf Championship plays a crucial role in promoting amateur golf and youth development both in Nepal and the South Asian region. The Nepal Golf Association aims to expand the event further in the coming years to increase its prestige and impact.
