India has launched missile attacks targeting terrorist areas in Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, 15 days after the deadly attack in Pahalgam. The Indian military named the operation “Operation Sindoor.”
According to the Indian government, the strike focused on terrorist bases in regions from where attacks on India were being planned and carried out.
Indian media Dainik Bhaskar reported that the airstrikes hit locations including Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Gulpur, Kotli, Bhimber, Sialkot, Muridke, Chak Amru, and Bahawalpur, killing around 30 people.
News agency Reuters also reported gunfire and explosions in areas near the Pakistan border.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased since the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people, including one Nepali tourist. India has accused Pakistan of supporting the attack and violating the ceasefire agreement.
