On Monday evening, the police took 15 individuals into custody for investigation following a gang fight that resulted in a murder near LRI School, Kalanki.
Upon receiving information about the gang fight, a team from Kalimati Police Station, Kathmandu District Police Complex, and the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office detained 15 people from various locations. According to SP and spokesperson of the police complex, Apil Raj Bohora, the screening process is underway to determine who among the detained individuals was involved in the murder.
“We will only make the involvement public after screening and determining who is responsible,” SP Bohora told The Ritible.
The victim of the gang fight was 22-year-old Abhaya Gole from Dunge Adda, Kathmandu, who died after being severely injured. He was taken to the Shahid Memorial Hospital in Kalanki, where doctors declared him dead at 8 p.m.
The altercation occurred around 7:30 p.m. near LRI School. According to the police, the incident was related to a dispute between two groups over an event during Holi. After the dispute, 21-year-old Rohit Khadka, Binaya Lama, and Parbit Shrestha reportedly attacked with rods, khukuris, knives, and fists.
The injured individuals, 23-year-old Sandeep Bhujel from Nagdhunga, 22-year-old Pawan Tamang (also known as Chakre) from Naya Kathmandu, and 22-year-old Pasang Sherpa from Chandragiri Municipality-14, are receiving treatment, SP Bohora mentioned.
