Korean band 2Z held a special showcase on the afternoon of May 14 to celebrate the release of their fifth single “Crossroad.” The event took place at the Cultural Garden Art Hall in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, where the members shared their thoughts on their comeback and the story behind the album.
Album Completed Before Asia Tour
During the showcase, 2Z revealed that they finished working on the album before heading out for their first Asia tour. The group said, “We wanted to share this song as soon as possible and give a positive message to those who need it.”
“Crossroad” Carries a Message of Hope and Comfort
The new single “Crossroad” includes two songs: the title track “Crossroad” and “Luv Affair.” The title track blends neo-alternative rock with catchy pop melodies, aiming to deliver hope to those feeling lost or hopeless.
“It’s a song for those who are about to give up because of invisible struggles in life,” the band explained. “We hope this becomes the last light of hope for someone who’s struggling.”
Concern Over Youth Suicide in Korea
2Z spoke about their concern over the rising suicide rate among young people in Korea, saying, “We’re proud to promote Korea globally as a band, but we’re also deeply saddened by this reality.” They added, “It made us think more about how everyone is standing at their own ‘crossroad’ in life.”
One member shared, “It’s okay for youth to make mistakes. Many people face struggles without ever reaching the goals they dreamed of. I hope this song gives them a reason to hold on.”
Past Campaigns Show 2Z’s Commitment
This isn’t the first time 2Z has used music for a good cause. Previously, the group launched a campaign to help find missing children through their song “Rainbow.”
They reflected, “We used to feel like we had to be perfect to inspire others. But after hearing fans say, ‘We live because of your music,’ we realized we don’t have to be full of hope ourselves. We’re just ordinary people sharing real emotions.”
A Band with Model Looks
One thing that makes 2Z stand out is their model background. All the members worked as fashion models before becoming a band. They proudly said, “We’re all over 180cm tall, and we can collaborate with fashion brands. Our visuals are definitely one of our strengths.”
Role Model and Mentor: CEO Jung Han-jong
2Z also gave credit to their agency CEO, Jung Han-jong, who is a former bassist of the legendary band Sinawe. “He’s been our role model since before debut,” they said. “We had no musical experience, and he guided us from the beginning.”
Dreaming to Be Korea’s Rock Stars
Looking to the future, 2Z said they want to become “Korea’s rock stars” who inspire others. “We hope to be artists who lead the culture and have a positive influence on society,” they said.
2Z’s fifth single “Crossroad” will be officially released at 6 p.m. KST today.
