A total of 50 bodies have been recovered so far from the plane crash in Washington, USA.
According to American media reports, 50 bodies, including 40 from the Potomac River, have been found so far.
Seventeen people are still missing, and the search for them is ongoing.
The crash, which occurred on Wednesday night at 9 PM local time, involved both a plane and a helicopter, with no survivors reported.
U.S. President Donald Trump also told reporters on Thursday that there were no survivors in the crash.
The American Airlines plane, arriving from Wichita and preparing to land at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, collided with a military helicopter.
The plane and the U.S. Army’s Black Hawk helicopter collided mid-air and crashed into the Potomac River in flames.
The plane was carrying 64 people, including four crew members, while the helicopter had three military personnel on board. Although all were reported dead, not all bodies have been recovered yet.
Passengers on the plane included people from other countries. Among them, two were from Argentina and three were Chinese nationals. The nationalities of the other foreign passengers have not been disclosed.
The plane’s black box has been recovered.
According to The Washington Post, at the time of the accident, the airport control tower was understaffed. The newspaper, citing the aviation department, reported that only two air traffic controllers were working instead of the required four.
President Trump blamed the crash on the policies of the previous Democratic administration.
He stated that the aviation system should have the highest standards for recruitment and claimed that the previous administration’s policies were responsible for the accident.
“Their policies were bad. Their politics were even worse,” he said.
Trump has been criticized for blaming the previous government without any evidence or proof.
