A heartbreaking scene unfolded in Sankhuwasabha when the body of a 6-year-old girl was taken by police just before her cremation. The incident happened in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4, Sipprang, where the girl named Yunika Tamang was being prepared for her final rites.

The police arrived at the location on Thursday and took the body into their custody. It has now been placed in the district hospital’s mortuary in Khandbari. Police say they are conducting a detailed investigation to find out what really happened to the young girl.

Yunika had been injured after allegedly being pushed off a ledge by her aunt (father’s brother’s wife) during a family dispute on Baisakh 30. She was taken to Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar, but sadly passed away on Jestha 7 during treatment.

According to Inspector Abhishek Shrestha, spokesperson for the District Police Office Sankhuwasabha, both Yunika’s father Gopal Tamang and her aunt Kalpana Tamang are now in police custody. The court process to keep them under further investigation is already underway.

This tragic case has shocked the local community, and police say they will leave no stone unturned to uncover the truth behind Yunika’s untimely death.
