Seven more Nepali citizens stuck at Mashhad International Airport in Iran were rescued on Wednesday. Iranian immigration had stopped them earlier for not having exit permits, which are mandatory to leave the country.
Earlier, only two Nepalis had been rescued. All nine are now in Delhi, planning to travel directly to Butwal by bus.
Among the rescued are Gayatri Karki Thapa and her son Utsav Thapa from Udayapur, as well as Bishnu Prasad Bhusal, Buddhi Bhusal, Sagar Paudel, Yagya Marasini, and Raju Khanal from Butwal.
The rescue was facilitated by the Indian Embassy, which assigned official Hari Thapa to assist them. One individual, Bishnu Prasad Banjade, remains held due to a missing passport.
This brings the total number of rescued Nepalis from Iran to nine, highlighting the importance of proper documentation when traveling abroad.
