In the western Indian state of Rajasthan, a chemical-laden truck collided with other vehicles early on Friday morning, resulting in at least five deaths and over 35 injuries, according to local police. The accident occurred in the Bhankrota area on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, near several petrol pumps. Many of the injured are in serious condition.
Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, the principal of SMS Medical College, stated, “Around 24–25 people have been admitted to the ICU. There are many injuries, and it’s a serious accident.”
The truck and a private car, along with about 40 other vehicles, were destroyed in the fire. Firefighters faced great difficulty in putting out the blaze.
Rajasthan’s Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal Sharma, mentioned that all efforts are being made for rescue and relief operations.
