A police constable, approximately 21 years old, named Chakra Prasad Neupane, who was stationed at the District Police Office in Kanchanpur, shot himself in the head with a pistol on Friday evening inside his office. Neupane, who was injured by the bullet in his head, is currently undergoing treatment at the Medical College in Kohalpur, Banke.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Joshi from the District Police Office Kanchanpur stated that Neupane’s condition is stable. “We heard the sound of a gunshot from the administration room; he was alone there,” said Joshi. “There was blood flowing from his head, and he was injured.”
According to him, once the injury was reported, Neupane was immediately taken to the Mahakali Hospital for treatment. As treatment was not possible there, he was then transported to Kohalpur, Banke, via Dhangadhi in Kailali. Joshi further mentioned that an investigation is underway to determine the reasons behind Neupane’s act of shooting himself.
