World-renowned news network CNN has included Nepali mountaineer Purnima Shrestha in its list of successful athletes for 2024.
The list features athletes who achieved remarkable success worldwide in 2024. CNN highlighted Purnima’s incredible feat of climbing Mount Everest three times in just two weeks, setting a world record and making history. She achieved this milestone within just 13 days and is also recognized as a photojournalist.
“My body was exhausted. At times, I felt foolish and even considered giving up,” she told CNN Sports. Despite financial challenges, her determination to follow her dream helped her succeed.
In 2021, Purnima also became the first Nepali woman to climb Mount Dhaulagiri, the world’s seventh-highest peak.
