Nepal Welcomes More Than 1.15 Million Tourists in 2024

Tourist arrivals in Nepal reached an impressive 1.15 million in 2024, marking a significant post-pandemic recovery.


In 2024, more than 1.14 million tourists have visited Nepal. According to the latest data this morning, 1,147,024 people have entered Nepal, as reported by the Nepal Tourism Board.

The Board’s director, Marine Raj Lamichhane, stated that an average of 3,000 tourists visit daily, and there has been an increase of over 14% in tourist arrivals compared to 2023. In 2019, 1,197,191 foreign tourists visited Nepal.

This is the first year with a significant increase in tourist arrivals after the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2020 to 2022, tourist arrivals were nearly halted.

According to the latest six-month data from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Nepal’s tourism has rebounded by 96% after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Events like the Nepal Premier League (NPL), the World Buddhist Conference, the International Balloon Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, and various national and international fairs and exhibitions have also contributed to the increase in tourism.
