In a horrifying incident, Lucknow Police arrested a 24-year-old man, Arshad, on charges of murdering his mother and four sisters at a hotel in Uttar Pradesh’s capital on the first day of the new year.
The tragedy unfolded at Hotel Sharanjeet in the Thana Naka area, where the victims’ bodies were discovered by hotel staff. The deceased were identified as Alia (9), Alshia (19), Aksa (16), Rahmeen (18), and their mother, Asma. The hotel management immediately informed the local authorities upon finding the bodies.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central, Raveena Tyagi, provided details about the case. “We received information regarding the discovery of five bodies in a hotel room. Upon reaching the scene, it was determined that Arshad, a resident of Agra, was involved. Preliminary investigations suggest he killed his family members over ongoing disputes,” she stated.
Arshad, who hails from Islam Nagar, Tedi Bagiya in Agra, reportedly confessed during questioning. According to police, he carried out the murders using a sharp blade, targeting his mother first before attacking his sisters, possibly while they were asleep.
The crime has left the hotel’s occupants and staff in shock, as no disturbances were reported during the night. Forensic teams sealed the crime scene and collected evidence, while senior police officers inspected the site.
The victims’ bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the motive and circumstances leading to the incident. Authorities are working to piece together Arshad’s actions and the events that culminated in this tragic crime.
