HMPV Virus Detected in India

The HMPV virus, which has been spreading in China, has now reached India. Indian media reports that the first case was detected in Bengaluru.

The infection was found in an eight-month-old baby. Karnataka’s health department confirmed the presence of the HMPV virus through hospital lab tests. The baby had not traveled outside India.

The Karnataka health department has informed the central government about the case. Since the outbreak of the virus in China, the Indian government has been on alert, with Maharashtra’s health department also staying vigilant.

Kerala and Telangana governments are closely monitoring reports of widespread viral fever and respiratory infections in China but have stated there is no need for panic at the moment.

Authorities have been instructed to regularly survey flu patients and ensure strict adherence to hygiene protocols.
