Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi was assaulted on Wednesday, and the person involved is currently in police custody. He has not revealed anything about his identity except his name.
The incident occurred following the completion of a detention hearing involving Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, who has been named as a defendant in a case related to the misuse of savings from Swarnalakshmi Cooperative.
The person who assaulted Tripathi inside the premises of the Kathmandu District Court has been identified as 48-year-old Lalit KC. He is a permanent resident of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-1 in Dolakha district. Currently, he resides in a rented house in Tikathali, Lalitpur. However, he has not disclosed his occupation or profession yet.
“He appears to be a very ordinary youth, but he has not mentioned his profession,” said SP Navaraj Adhikari, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range.
KC was arrested on Wednesday evening near the district court premises in Babarmahal. His custody has been extended today, and he is being held at the Singh Durbar Police Circle.
Senior advocate Tripathi, who was representing the plaintiff in the court, was attacked while leaving the courtroom after concluding his arguments. During his arguments, he had demanded the strictest possible action against Rabi Lamichhane.
