The fourth Ilam Literature Festival is scheduled for Chaitra 1 and 2 to promote Ilam’s tourism through literature and introduce Ilam’s literary works to national and international audiences. Organizers shared this information during a press conference and also unveiled the festival’s official logo.
Under the theme “Literature for Tourism,” the event will feature prominent writers from Nepal, India, Vietnam, and various European countries, according to Prakash Thamsuhang, Chairperson of the Ilam Literature, Art, and Music Foundation.
The festival seeks to revive Ilam’s rich literary culture, which has seen a decline in recent years. This is the fourth edition of the event, with the first festival held in 2076 BS. Roshan Rai, Secretary of the Ilam Literature Society, stated that this year’s event is being organized by the Ilam Literature Society and Ilam Municipality Literature and Art Foundation in collaboration with Nepal Academy.
The festival will also host well-known Nepali film stars and politicians. Additionally, various discussions and debates will take place, including a political dialogue with former Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling.
The total budget for the festival is estimated at approximately NPR 2.25 million. Organizers believe the event will directly benefit Ilam’s tourism industry. Alongside literary discussions, the festival will also focus on tourism, politics, and promoting Ilam’s identity.
