How Amaran Helped Rohman Shawl Prove Himself as an Actor?

He explained, “After the audition, I was selected, and a month later, I was told to meet the director. I was getting ready when I received a call from the casting director, who said there were some changes and that they’d call me later.” Rohman was so affected by this phone call and the perceptions related to modeling that he made a big decision. He added, “But that call never came. I thought my time had come, but suddenly everything ended.”

Models Can’t Be Good Actors – Rohman

He said that it was a huge shock for him. He explained, “There was already a perception that models can’t be good actors. This mindset pushed me away from films, and I focused entirely on modeling.” Rohman mentioned that even his favorite model-turned-actors like Muzammil Ibrahim, John Abraham, Arjun Rampal, and Milind Soman faced the same issue. He added, “It’s always assumed that people who look good can’t be good actors.”

Opportunity to Prove Himself with Amaran

Rohman continued, explaining, “People often overlook the acting skills of models. Many talented individuals were labeled as ‘just a good-looking model.’ This problem still exists, and I had to face it too. That’s why I wanted to break this perception with Amaran.” In the film, Rohman plays the role of a fierce terrorist, a character completely different from his real life. He regarded this film as the biggest test of his career. Rohman said, “I was cast as a villain in the film, which was completely different from who I am.”

Breaking the ‘Model’ Image

He added, “This was a big opportunity for me. If I had failed, my acting career could have been over. I had to break free from the image of a ‘good-looking model.'” Rohman shared that Amaran completely changed him as a person. He said, “The love and appreciation I received for the film gave me confidence. It means a lot to me, and I can’t express it in words. Amaran and Azadi (his recent short film) are two completely different stories.”

Thanks to Fans and Directors

He concluded by thanking his fans and directors, saying, “Through these films, I lived two aspects of life – in Azadi, I played a protector, and in Amaran, a destroyer.” Rohman expressed his gratitude, saying, “I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to do these films. I’m thankful to God, my audience, and my directors. My hope is that I continue to get challenging roles like these in the future. I’m ready to work hard in every way.”
