A 13-year-old girl was gang-raped in Jhagadpur, Bardagoriya Rural Municipality-2, Kailali, on Saturday. The victim, originally from Mohanyal, was living in a rented room when the incident took place, according to the police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kabindra Singh Bohara, spokesperson for the District Police Office, informed that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime. The detained individuals are 44-year-old Gopal BK and a 16-year-old boy, both residents of Bardagoriya Rural Municipality-3.
According to the police, the girl, a fourth-grade student at a local school, was asked by Gopal BK to cook and bring him meat. When she went to his shop to deliver the food, he and the teenager took her inside a room and raped her.
The victim’s elder sister reported the incident to the police Sunday evening. Soon after receiving the complaint, a team from the Area Police Office in Bauniya arrested both suspects. The police have kept them in custody and are conducting further investigations.
Meanwhile, a similar case was reported in Dhangadhi on Friday, where a 14-year-old girl was raped by a man while returning home from school. The suspect is on the run, and police are searching for him.
