Mika Singh Slams Industry Hypocrisy Over Language Controversy

Singer Mika Singh has sparked debate by calling out double standards in the entertainment industry while defending Punjabi icon Diljit Dosanjh. His remarks, aimed at comedian Samay Raina and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, have stirred discussions on social media.

Comedians Face Legal Trouble

Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia are under police investigation following a controversial episode of India’s Got Latent, which was removed from YouTube. The controversy also involves Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani, who are facing legal scrutiny for their participation.

Amid the backlash, Mika Singh voiced his concerns about the use of explicit language in entertainment. He emphasized the need for moderation, particularly in content featuring well-known personalities.

Mika’s Stand on Explicit Content

In a video statement, Mika criticized comedians for their excessive use of inappropriate language, expressing shock over the level of profanity. While acknowledging their popularity, he pointed out that such content reaches audiences who may find it offensive.

“I saw the episode featuring Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia. The language used was shocking. Even a female participant used abusive words. There should be some rules,” he stated.

Mika clarified that he does not oppose young comedians gaining fame but questioned why prominent artists agree to participate in such content. “Why do celebrities and judges support such shows? Is it just for money?” he asked.

Double Standards in the Industry?

Mika also highlighted what he sees as unfair treatment in the industry. He argued that singers like him and Diljit Dosanjh often face backlash and legal actions over their lyrics, while comedians using explicit language go unchecked.

“When Diljit Dosanjh or I perform, people are quick to criticize us for our lyrics. We receive notices and cases are filed. But why don’t these people take action against those who use abusive language in podcasts and comedy shows?” he questioned.

Call for Responsible Content

Mika concluded by acknowledging the success of India’s Got Latent but urged for a balance between creative expression and responsible content. He posted on social media, stating:

“I’ve been following the controversy around @maisamayhoon and @beerbiceps. While I enjoy the show, I strongly believe the excessive use of abusive language needs to be addressed. Let’s promote respectful and positive content!”

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has launched an investigation, with FIRs filed in Maharashtra and Assam against the show. The controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent is far from over.
