AI search engine Perplexity AI has launched a new tool called “Deep Research,” available for free. According to the company, this tool is designed for users who need detailed and in-depth research.
The Deep Research tool can process multiple research tasks within seconds, gathering information from hundreds of sources and providing well-reasoned answers automatically.
Perplexity’s new tool offers features similar to ChatGPT and Google Gemini. However, while ChatGPT and Gemini require paid subscriptions for advanced features, Perplexity’s Deep Research tool is free to use.
“We are excited to make the Deep Research tool available to everyone at no cost,” said Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas in a LinkedIn post.
For expert-level research on a specific topic and up to 500 daily queries, users can opt for a premium plan at $20 per month. Srinivas stated that premium users could receive a complete report in under three minutes.
According to Srinivas, Perplexity’s Deep Research agent is significantly faster than other alternatives. It can answer most queries in less than three minutes and matches the capabilities of OpenAI’s GPT-4 agent.
The company aims to make knowledge accessible and useful for everyone. This tool provides highly accurate responses and is particularly recognized for its coding and search capabilities.
Unlike traditional AI chat models, Deep Research first collects relevant sources and then systematically analyzes them to generate well-structured reports. Users can download reports in PDF format and share files with editing access.
