Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has had surgery on his right knee, making him the latest player from the club to go through an operation. The 26-year-old Japanese international shared the update on Instagram, mentioning that the procedure took place a few days ago and that he has already begun rehabilitation.

“This has been the hardest period of my career so far, and it’s not over yet, but I won’t give up,” Tomiyasu wrote.

Though he did not confirm when he will return, reports suggest he could be out for the rest of the season. Tomiyasu is the third Arsenal player in recent weeks to have surgery, following Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. Injuries have kept him out for most of the season, with his only appearance being a short six-minute substitute role against Southampton in October.

Arsenal, trailing league leaders Liverpool by seven points, will host West Ham United on Saturday.
