Founders of Moderate: A Look at the Team Behind the Startup
The founding team of Moderate consists of siblings Dr. Lalitha and Sreeram Reddy Vanga, along with Kartikeya Kabra, who is Sreeram’s brother-in-law. Dr. Lalitha brings nearly three decades of experience in the medical field, having earned her MBBS from the prestigious JIPMER in Pondicherry.
Dr. Lalitha’s Educational and Professional Background:
Dr. Lalitha pursued her MBA in Radiology at Puducherry Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, and JIPMER. With over 10 years of experience as a radiologist, she has also held significant roles in academia, including serving as the professor and Head of Radiology at a private hospital. Additionally, she has experience in the corporate healthcare sector, having worked as Vice President at Yashoda Group of Hospitals.
Sreeram Reddy Vanga’s Journey:
Sreeram’s academic journey led him to pursue Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, Indiana, USA. He was a founding member of Party Gaming (2002-2005) before venturing into entrepreneurship. He successfully bootstrapped a company in the UK, later expanding into India and selling it to a publicly-listed gaming company for a substantial ₹434 crore. Sreeram was the sole shareholder in his first venture.
Kartikeya Kabra’s Expertise:
Kartikeya holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT-Madras. He worked for a decade at ITC, where he spearheaded the deodorant brand Engage. Later, Kartikeya transitioned into brand marketing, where he played a role in launching several popular products, including Savlon.
Moderate: A Startup Revolutionizing Health
The centerpiece of the startup’s product offering is the Calorie Crusher Tablets, designed to help reduce the absorption of calories and carbohydrates from food. This innovative product caught the attention of two of the Shark Tank investors—Aman Gupta and Kunal Bahl—who saw its potential and decided to invest ₹1 crore for a 5% stake in the company.
Moderate also gained a major celebrity endorsement from actress Huma Qureshi. Expressing her excitement over the brand’s success, Huma shared, “Moderate has been a daily part of my routine, whether I’m working on set or balancing the chaos of life. I’m so proud that our brand has found success on Shark Tank India, and even more proud that it’s making a difference in real lives, including mine.
