Amazon has officially announced that the Amazon Appstore for Android will stop working on August 20, 2025. After this date, users will no longer be able to access it on their Android devices. However, it is unclear whether the app will stop functioning completely or display a shutdown notice.
Amazon Coins Program Also Ending
Along with the Appstore, Amazon is also shutting down the Amazon Coins program on the same day. If you have any Amazon Coins, you must use them before August 20, as they are no longer available for purchase starting today.
If you still have unused Coins after the shutdown, Amazon has promised to refund them, but details on the refund process will be shared later.
Amazon Appstore Failed to Compete
The Amazon Appstore never became a strong competitor to the Google Play Store. It seems Amazon has decided to end the service and focus on other projects.
