Troops Depart for South Sudan

A team of 211 Nepali Army personnel from the Chandiprasad Battalion left for South Sudan last night to support the United Nations’ peacekeeping mission.

According to the Nepal Army’s Public Relations and Information Directorate, the team is led by Commander Milan Acharya.

Their departure follows the return of another Nepali Army unit, the Aridaman Battalion, led by Major Maheshwar Silwal. This 213-member team arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday, after completing their mission.

Currently, Nepal has 1,756 peacekeepers in South Sudan, including a sector commander, military observers, staff officers, two battalions, and a company.
