Shankar’s Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, hit the theaters in January 2025. However, as of February, reports surfaced that 350 film extras had still not been paid their dues of ₹1200 each. A police complaint was lodged, with the extras demanding that director Shankar and producer Dil Raju intervene and settle the payments.
According to a report by Telugu Scribe, these artists had been promised ₹1200 each for their work in the film, after co-director Swargam Shiva assured them of payment. However, they claim they haven’t received any compensation to date. The complaint was filed at a police station in Guntur, with one of the artists, Tarun, accusing the team of cheating. The extras are calling for action against Shiva, and they have urged Shankar and Raju to address the matter.
The issue gained traction on social media, with users tagging Ram Charan and actor Sai Durgha Tej. Comments criticized the situation, highlighting the contrast between paying influencers for promotions and not compensating hard-working artists. Many also noted that such issues are unfortunately common in the industry.
As of now, the film’s team has yet to release an official statement addressing the allegations.
Game Changer, directed by Shankar, centers around Ram Nandan, an IAS officer determined to tackle corruption in electoral politics. The film features a strong ensemble cast, including SJ Suryah, Anjali, Srikanth, Sunil, and others. Despite a hefty production budget of over ₹400 crore, the film has faced struggles at the box office, grossing ₹186.25 crore worldwide, with ₹131.17 crore earned in India.
