A 6-year-old boy died after being hit by a van in Kailali on Monday.
According to the police, the accident happened in front of Lal Ratna Hospital in Lamkichuha Municipality-1 along the East-West Highway. The van, with license plate number SuPra 01001 Cha 3747, hit the child, resulting in his death.
DSP Kabindra Singh Bohara, spokesperson of the District Police Office, said that the victim, Jenish Bista, was the son of Urmila Bista from Lamkichuha Municipality-5. The accident occurred when he was walking eastward on the road. He was seriously injured and taken to Lalratna Hospital, where he died during treatment.
The police have taken the van driver, 23-year-old Bhojraj K.C. from Mangalsen Municipality-4 in Achham, into custody for further investigation.
