ACC Asia Cup 2025 Tournament Moved from India, Nepal Misses Out After Poor Premier Cup Performance

The ACC Asia Cup Cricket 2025 is set to take place in September. Although it was initially planned to be held in India, the venue is now being changed.

The tournament, which will be played in the T20 format, will be hosted either in Sri Lanka or the UAE. A total of eight teams will participate. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan have directly qualified.

Along with them, the top three teams from the ACC Premier Cup—Hong Kong, UAE, and Oman—will also compete. However, Nepal will not be part of this edition of the tournament. Nepal failed to qualify after a disappointing performance in the 2024 ACC Premier Cup held in Oman.

Initially, only the winner of the Premier Cup was supposed to qualify for the Asia Cup, but a later decision allowed two additional teams, granting the runner-up and third-place team a spot as well.

Nepal was eliminated in the semifinals after losing to the UAE and then suffered another defeat against Hong Kong in the third-place match.
