A fire broke out at the Likhupike Rural Municipality office in Solukhumbu. The fire started around 1 PM today and affected the upper floor of the building.
The upper floor had a kitchen. The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but an electrical short circuit is suspected.
Municipality Chairperson Mina Karki Basnet told The Ritible, “There was no electricity for the past two to three days because strong winds had knocked down electric poles. Today, the power returned, and the fire started. So, we suspect it might be due to a short circuit.”
As strong winds continue, locals, representatives, and police are working to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby settlements. However, the lack of a fire truck in the municipality has made it difficult to control the fire.
