The third Chief Minister Kohalpur Gold Cup, ongoing in Kohalpur, Banke since Saturday, saw Rising Star Football Club from Nawalparasi securing a victory on Sunday.
In the second quarterfinal match held on Sunday, Nawalparasi defeated India’s Sahara Football Club 4-3 in a penalty shootout.
Both teams made several attempts to score throughout the match. The first half ended in a draw, and neither team could find the net in the second half either. After 90 minutes of competitive play, the match went to penalties, where Rising Star Football Club was fortunate to emerge victorious.
Nawalparasi’s goalkeeper Pratik Sunar played a key role in the victory and was named Man of the Match. He was awarded a cash prize of 5,000 rupees.
The tournament features eight teams, including Ghana’s Ghana Football Club, India’s Sahara Football Club, Planning Boys United Club Kathmandu, Lumbini Football Academy Ghorahi Dang, Kakrebihar Football Club Surkhet, Rising Star Football Club Nawalparasi, Rhino Football Club Gandaki Province, and Kohalpur Racing Sahara Football Club Banke.
Organized by Kohalpur Racing Sahara Football Club, the tournament will offer 800,000 rupees to the winner and 400,000 rupees to the runner-up. The third Chief Minister Kohalpur Gold Cup will run until the 24th of Falgun.
