Nottingham Forest pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory over defending champions Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday. Callum Hudson-Odoi was the hero, scoring in the 83rd minute to secure a crucial three points for his team.

The 24-year-old winger latched onto a brilliant diagonal pass from Morgan Gibbs-White, sprinted into the box, and fired a precise shot past Éderson at the near post. His goal not only sealed Forest’s first league win over City since 1997 but also strengthened their chances of a top-four finish and a Champions League spot.

A Hard-Fought Battle

The match at the City Ground was a tight contest with few clear-cut chances. Manchester City dominated possession but struggled to break down Forest’s resilient defense.

Nico Gonzalez came close to scoring for City in the first half when his powerful shot struck the outside of the post. Hudson-Odoi nearly doubled his tally after halftime, only to see Ederson tip his curling effort onto the woodwork.

After the final whistle, the home crowd erupted in celebration. “We fought for every ball, every challenge, and we’re delighted to get this win for the fans,” Hudson-Odoi said.

Forest’s UCL Dream

The victory keeps Nottingham Forest in third place with 51 points and 10 games remaining. They are in a strong position to secure a Champions League place for the first time since the mid-1990s.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s hopes of retaining their title took another hit. Pep Guardiola’s side remains in fourth place with 47 points, just ahead of Chelsea (46 points) and Newcastle United (44 points), who are both in pursuit.

Guardiola’s Toughest Season

This defeat marks a new low for Guardiola in the Premier League. He has now lost nine of his 28 league matches this season—the most he has ever suffered in a single domestic campaign.
