Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Student Union (NSU) has reclaimed its lost legacy at Maharajgunj Medical Campus.
This campus, considered a stronghold of NSU, was previously won by the UML-affiliated ANNFSU in 2016 (2073 BS) and 2022 (2079 BS). However, this time, NSU has avenged its past defeats and restored its dominance. All positions have been secured by NSU candidates.
Bibek Kumar Yadav of NSU has been elected as the president. Yadav secured 841 votes, while ANNFSU’s Pankaj Gupta managed to get only 704 votes. Ashok Gharti Magar of ANNFSU (Revolutionary) received 36 votes, and Rahul Kumar Yadav of Nepal Janamat Student Union got 11 votes.
Similarly, Yasika Yadav won the position of secretary, and Sagar Chaulagain secured the position of treasurer. Both are also from NSU.
This college has a significant Madhesi community presence. Therefore, both NSU and ANNFSU fielded candidates from the Madhesi community.
