The much-awaited Tamil action thriller Veera Dheera Sooran, starring Chiyaan Vikram, has hit an unexpected roadblock. Originally set for a grand theatrical release, the film will now miss its scheduled premiere in India due to an ongoing legal dispute. The movie’s release has been pushed to March 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM, leaving fans, theatre chains, and distributors scrambling for a solution.
Why Was Veera Dheera Sooran Delayed?
Reports indicate that the film’s digital and satellite rights are at the center of a legal battle. B4U Entertainment, a Mumbai-based company that acquired these rights, alleges that the film’s producers violated their agreement by selling OTT rights before its theatrical release.
Taking legal action, B4U approached the Delhi High Court, which ruled in their favor. The court imposed a temporary hold on the film’s release, forcing theatre chains like PVR and Cinepolis in Bangalore to cancel early morning shows.
Impact on Indian and Overseas Releases
The delay has also affected international screenings, with premiere shows in the US and other overseas markets facing sudden cancellations. Many international distributors were forced to issue refunds and adjust schedules, causing inconvenience to moviegoers.
Varun, co-founder of Tentkotta and SJ Cinemas, voiced concerns over repeated legal troubles in the Tamil film industry. He emphasized the need for financial and contractual disputes to be resolved well in advance to prevent last-minute disruptions.
“The industry must sort out financial matters before announcing release dates. Delays like these disappoint fans and create unnecessary complications for distributors and theatres,” he stated.
