Paris Saint-Germain is closing in on another Ligue 1 title, but the battle for second place is becoming intense. Marseille, currently in second, is just two points ahead of Monaco and Nice, who will face off in the Côte d’Azur derby on Saturday. Meanwhile, Marseille will take on a struggling Reims side, also on Saturday.

Ligue 1: Marseille Faces Reims

Marseille will travel to Reims, a team that started the season well but has hit a rough patch. Reims was impressive in the early matches, securing four wins and two draws in their first seven games, including a 2-2 draw against Marseille. However, their form has collapsed since January, with six consecutive losses pushing them down to 15th place in the 18-team league.

Ligue 1: Monaco vs. Nice

Monaco and Nice are neck and neck in the race for second place. Both teams have 47 points, the same goal difference (+19), and similar goal tallies—Monaco with 51 goals and Nice with 50. Even their top scorers, Mika Biereth and Evann Guessand, have scored 11 goals each.

Monaco coach Adi Hütter is looking forward to the derby, acknowledging its significance for both the club and the fans. “We know this match is very important, and we are ready,” he said.

Ligue 1: Balogun Returns, Köhn Back in Goal

Monaco’s Folarin Balogun is set to return to action after recovering from shoulder surgery. The U.S. international showed good form by scoring a hat-trick for Monaco’s reserve team this week. Midfielder Aleksandr Golovin could also feature after recovering from a minor injury.

In goal, Hütter has made another change, replacing Radek Majecki with Philipp Köhn as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. He expects a tough match against Nice, noting their high pressing and quick counter-attacks.

Ligue 1: Greenwood’s Struggles at Marseille

Mason Greenwood, Marseille’s top scorer with 15 league goals, has had a tough few weeks. He was benched in the last two matches against Lens and PSG due to concerns about his work rate and excessive dribbling. However, those decisions didn’t help Marseille, as they lost both games and only managed to score once.

During the international break, Greenwood returned early to train with a personal coach, hoping to regain his place in the starting lineup.

PSG Marches Toward Another Title

Paris Saint-Germain remains unbeaten in the league and is on course for a record-extending 13th Ligue 1 title. They will take on Saint-Etienne, who are struggling near the bottom of the table in 17th place. A win would bring PSG even closer to securing the championship.
