Flights at Tribhuvan International Airport have resumed after being disrupted due to fires set by protesters around the airport area. However, airport sources mentioned that flight takeoffs and landings are still under pressure.
Domestic and international flights are only able to land after making some detours.
On Friday evening, flight operations were disrupted for nearly an hour. Airport security personnel have been facilitating passengers based on their identification cards and tickets.
The protesters had set fires near the airport area, and flights were temporarily suspended for safety reasons.
The protesters set fire in front of the main office of the authority in Sinamangal. As the fire spread into the airport area, the airport was closed for security reasons.
