Dona Thapa, a former Nepal international footballer, has made serious accusations against a high-ranking figure in Nepal’s football system, known as “Lama.” Thapa claims that this individual, whom many believe to be Bikram Lama, ruined his own football career and is now trying to sabotage the career of his younger brother, Aron Thapa Magar.
A Frustrated Call for Justice for Dona Thapa
Dona Thapa, speaking out on his frustrations, said, “The person who ruined my career is the same one now trying hard to sideline my brother. If I made mistakes, punish me. Why should my brother suffer for something he never did?”
Thapa’s anger is directed at a club selector involved in the Nepal Super League (NSL), accusing them of using personal bias and manipulation to prevent Aron from advancing in the football system. Despite Aron’s talent, Dona claims that his brother’s name was not even initially included in the NSL player list, and that his subsequent selection by Jhapa FC was more about internal politics than merit.
Allegations of Favoritism and Unfair Practices
According to Dona, the entire NSL selection process is clouded by favoritism and a lack of transparency. He believes that powerful figures within the football system manipulate decisions, turning the sport into a battleground of influence rather than talent.
“As long as this person is in power, honest and hardworking players will continue to suffer. Either you play politics or fall to their feet. There’s no room for fair play anymore,” Thapa said, clearly emotional.
Dona ends his message with a plea to the footballing community, urging those in power to recognize the corruption and restore fairness in Nepal’s football system before it harms more players.
This emotional outburst has raised concerns within the Nepal football community, with many wondering if the allegations against Bikram Lama, a well-known figure in Nepali football, are based on truth. The accusations highlight deeper issues of favoritism and manipulation in the country’s football scene.
