Nepal Police have taken Rajendra Lingden, the chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), into custody. He was detained from the Singha Durbar area on Saturday (Baisakh 7).
Police Tried to Stop Leaders Inside Parliamentary Office
Before the arrest, Lingden and several RPP leaders were inside the party’s parliamentary office. Police attempted to stop them there. However, when the leaders tried to exit the building and move outside the Singha Durbar premises, police intervened and detained Lingden.
RPP Leaders Attempted to Protest with Flyers
Lingden and other leaders were reportedly trying to stage a protest inside Singha Durbar. They carried flyers and pamphlets for the demonstration. Police not only stopped the protest but also seized the materials being used.
Other Leaders Continue Protesting
While Lingden was taken into custody, other RPP leaders continued to demonstrate outside. The situation remains tense as party members demand the release of their chairman and permission to protest peacefully.
