Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has recommended that the club should go all out to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen this summer, especially given their struggles in front of goal during the 2024/25 season. With the club’s strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to deliver, Yorke believes Osimhen could be the answer to United’s goal-scoring woes.

Manchester United’s Goal Scoring Issues

United has faced significant challenges in attack this season. Hojlund and Zirkzee have combined for just 17 goals in 97 appearances across all competitions. With such a low tally, the Red Devils are actively searching for a proven goal scorer to strengthen their front line this summer.

The club has been linked to several strikers, including Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres, and Benjamin Sesko. However, Yorke believes that signing Osimhen should be United’s priority.

Yorke’s Strong Endorsement of Victor Osimhen

Speaking to Instant Casino, Yorke stated, “Manchester United signing Victor Osimhen this summer would be better late than never. I don’t know what has stopped the club from signing big names in recent windows.”

Yorke emphasized that, although United has signed young talents like Hojlund, they need more experienced players to improve their squad. He believes Victor Osimhen, a senior player with a strong goal-scoring record, is well-suited for the challenge at Manchester United.

“Can Osimhen handle the pressure? Well, it can’t get any worse. He’s been around for a while now, he’s a senior player, and he’s scored wherever he’s been,” Yorke added.

Osimhen’s Impressive Form

Victor Osimhen has been in sensational form this season, scoring 33 goals for Galatasaray across all competitions. His goal-scoring prowess has been crucial to the club’s success in both the Turkish league and the Turkish Cup.

Yorke believes signing Victor Osimhen would be a “no-brainer” for United, who are currently struggling to find the back of the net consistently.

Champions League Ambitions for United

Yorke also mentioned that United needs to secure a Champions League spot if they want to attract top players like Osimhen. “Getting into the Champions League has a bigger picture for Manchester United, it’s about being able to attract players and keeping the name of the club among the best teams in Europe,” Yorke explained.

He added that even finishing sixth may not be enough to entice big names to Old Trafford. “Whether they could compete in the tournament is another question, but even a sixth-place United can’t attract names like they used to; they need to be in the Champions League,” he concluded.
