India’s top shuttler Lakshya Sen suffered an early exit at the Thailand Open Super 500 tournament on Wednesday. He lost a tight three-game match to Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen, with scores of 18-21, 21-9, 17-21. The match lasted an intense 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Sen bounced back strongly in the second game after dropping the opener, using powerful rallies to dominate. But Nguyen stayed calm in the decider, pulling ahead at 17-13 and sealing the win.
Priyanshu Rajawat Also Out
It was a disappointing outing for Priyanshu Rajawat as well. He lost his first-round match to Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan 13-21, 21-17, 16-21 in another three-game contest.
Aakarshi Kashyap Wins Thriller
In the women’s singles, Aakarshi Kashyap pulled off a thrilling win against Japan’s Kaoru Sugiyama. She edged past her opponent in a tight decider to win 21-16, 20-22, 22-20. The match was closely contested, but Aakarshi held her nerve at the crucial moments.
Unnati Hooda Shows Grit
Young shuttler Unnati Hooda also made it through to the next round. She battled hard to defeat Thailand’s Thamonwan Nithiittikrai 21-14, 18-21, 23-21. It was a tough match, but Unnati’s determination saw her through in the end.
Rakshitha Sree’s Campaign Ends Early
Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj, however, couldn’t progress beyond the first round. She went down 18-21, 7-21 to eighth seed Yeo Jia Min of Singapore in straight games.
It turned out to be a mixed day for India at the Thailand Open, with some early setbacks and some promising wins.
