Nayabasti Youth Club’s time in the 2025 Martyr’s Memorial B Division League has ended in disappointment, as the team is officially relegated to the C Division with two games still left to play.
Draw Between Madhyapur and Shree Bhagwati Confirms Relegation
On Wednesday, May 14, Madhyapur Youth Association held Shree Bhagwati Club to a 1-1 draw. That result proved costly for Nayabasti, as it mathematically confirmed their relegation. Nayabasti sits at the bottom of the table with only 5 points from 11 matches, and even if they win their remaining two games, they cannot surpass Madhyapur, who have already secured 12 points from the same number of games.
Points Deduction Adds to Nayabasti’s Struggles
Earlier in the season, Nayabasti Youth Club had filed a complaint against Saraswati Youth Club, alleging the ineligibility of player Dhirendra Bahadur Shah. ANFA’s disciplinary body had initially awarded Nayabasti 3 points. However, the ANFA Appeal Committee later reversed that decision, reinstating Shah and returning the points to Saraswati. This point loss further damaged Nayabasti’s chances of survival in the league.
Relegation Battle Heats Up for Others
While Nayabasti is already relegated, the fight to avoid joining them continues. Tusal Youth Club is currently in 13th place with 11 points and remains in the danger zone. Alongside Tusal, Madhyapur, Brigade Boys Club, and Shree Kumari Club are also in the relegation battle. Only one of these clubs will join Nayabasti in dropping to the C Division.
Planning Boys United Secures Promotion to A Division
At the top end of the table, Planning Boys United has officially secured promotion to the A Division League after going unbeaten in 11 matches and collecting 27 points. The club, which rose from the C Division in 2012 and entered B Division in 2022, has now reached the top tier of Nepali football.
Shree Bhagwati Club is also in contention for promotion, currently sitting second with 23 points. However, their recent draw against Madhyapur has delayed their promotion hopes, and they will now need to wait for results in the remaining games.
With two rounds left, the league will soon reveal who earns the final promotion spot and who becomes the second team to face relegation.
