Exciting U-14 School Sports Set to Begin in Kathmandu from Jestha 22

The U-14 School Sports event is set to begin in Kathmandu from Jestha 22 to Jestha 26, aiming to discover young talent in six different sports.

Organized to Discover Young Talents

According to Min Kumar Sharma, head of the Competition Department at the National Sports Council (NSC), the main goal of U-14 School Sports is to identify and promote children’s sports talents from schools across Nepal.

The event will include athletics, table tennis, basketball, rugby, and badminton for both boys and girls. Cricket, however, will only feature boys’ competition.

Coordination and Preparation Completed

Program Coordinator and NSC Executive Committee Member Anjana Pradhan informed that final preparations have been made with support from the School Sports Federation, PABSON, NPABSON, Nepal Teachers’ Federation, and various sports associations.

Game Schedule and Venues

The opening ceremony of U-14 School Sports will be held on Jestha 22.

  • Athletics and Rugby will take place on Jestha 22 and 23 at Dasharath Stadium.
  • Badminton will be hosted at Devnagar Hall, Baneshwor.
  • Table Tennis will be held at Lainchaur.
  • Basketball matches will take place at the NSC Covered Hall, Tripureshwar.
  • Boys’ Cricket will run throughout the five days at Mulpani Cricket Ground from Jestha 22 to 26.

Events and Competitions

In Athletics, participants will compete in:

  • 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m sprints
  • 4x100m relay
  • Long jump

Table Tennis and Badminton will feature:

  • Singles and Doubles for both boys and girls

Basketball and Rugby will have:

  • 3×3 matches for both boys and girls
