A powerful landslide triggered by heavy rain has completely destroyed a two-story house in Makalu Rural Municipality-2, Sankhuwasabha. The house belonged to Phunurbu Sherpa and was made of stone, mud, and wood. Fortunately, no people or livestock were harmed in the incident.
Police Inspector Abhishek Shrestha reported continuous rainfall in the area, which caused the landslide to bury the house. Currently, the affected family members are staying with relatives in Seduwa.
The heavy rains have also caused flooding in nearby areas, washing away two hydropower plants in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality. This flooding disrupted electricity supply to around 250 homes, worsening the situation for local residents.
The region remains under alert as rains continue, raising concerns about further damage and safety risks for the communities.
