A Nepali man has been arrested in Hyderabad, India, for allegedly murdering his pregnant girlfriend, 33-year-old Tara Bohora.
According to India Today, Tara’s body was found inside a luggage bag dumped in an isolated area of Bachupally on June 4. She was reportedly strangled to death with a nylon rope by her boyfriend Vijay Toppa, also known as Wilson.
Vijay (30), also a Nepali citizen, worked as a chef at a local restaurant. Police tracked him using CCTV footage and technical evidence and arrested him from Medchal district. He has allegedly confessed to the crime during initial questioning.
Tara was married and had two children but had been living with Vijay in a rented apartment in Bowrampet, Hyderabad since April 15. The couple had met through Facebook, and their relationship developed afterward.
Police reports state that on May 23, a dispute broke out between them after Tara told Vijay about her pregnancy. In anger, Vijay strangled her to death. After the murder, he allegedly stuffed the body into a suitcase and dumped it in a residential area.
Police launched a manhunt using five special investigation teams and later arrested Vijay. Further investigation is ongoing.
