4 Arrested in Pokhara for Stealing Copper Wires and Expensive Utensils

Kaski police have arrested four people from Pokhara for allegedly stealing copper wires and expensive utensils.

The arrested include three Indian nationals and one Nepali:

  • Manoj Kumar Singh (22) from Bihar, India
  • Karan Kumar Shah (27) from Bihar, India
  • Mukesh Kumar (42) from Bihar, India
  • Shyam Kumar Tamang (31) from Khaniyabas Rural Municipality-2, Dhading, Nepal

According to DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet of Kaski District Police, the group repeatedly stole copper wires and utensils from different places.

On Jestha 8, Nepal Telecom filed a complaint about stolen copper cables and other items from its office in Chhinedanda, Pokhara. During the investigation, police discovered the stolen items were being sold to scrap dealers.

On Jestha 23, police raided a scrap warehouse operated by Manoj Kumar Singh and arrested all four.

They are being investigated under theft and robbery charges with a 7-day remand.

Items recovered from their warehouse:

  • 82 kg of copper wire
  • 2.5 kg of aluminum
  • 51 brass water taps (16 kg)
  • 97 brass sockets (18 kg)
  • 105 brass gate valves (85 kg)
  • 21 kg of fake jewelry
  • 10 copper pots
  • 3 charas bowls
  • 3 charas oil lamps
  • 1 charas pot
  • 1 copper water filter
  • 1.5 kg of additional copper wire
