Starting Friday, three new films have hit the screens in Nepal, including the Nepali social drama ‘Mahabhoj’ and two Hollywood movies — ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ and ‘Ballerina’.
‘Mahabhoj’ Premieres Nationwide with Over 110 Shows
The Nepali film ‘Mahabhoj’ has been released nationwide with more than 110 shows. The movie stars popular actors Dayahang Rai, Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, and Gaumaya Gurung in leading roles.
After its premiere in Kathmandu, the ‘Mahabhoj’ team recently held special screenings in Pokhara and Butwal. On Thursday, simultaneous premiere shows were organized in Biratnagar and Dharan as well.
Story Focuses on Social Drama Around Cooperative Savings
‘Mahabhoj’ explores the challenges faced by people when funds saved in a cooperative society are misused. It reveals how this affects the social and economic lives of the savers, capturing their struggles and hopes.
Positive Responses from Outside Kathmandu
The producers report that the film has received encouraging feedback from audiences outside the Kathmandu Valley. Key cast members Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, and director Dinesh Raut attended these premiere shows.
Interestingly, some victims of cooperative scams also took part in the screenings. They expressed that the film portrays reality well and hope it will urge the government to take stronger action. They believe the movie inspires people to raise their voices for justice.
Initial Audience Turnout and Challenges Ahead
Although the initial audience turnout on Friday morning was low, the filmmakers hope that strong word of mouth will help increase occupancy in the coming days. The biggest challenge for this social drama is to gather positive reviews and build momentum among viewers.
