Minnesota Lawmaker Killed

On Saturday morning, a gunman opened fire on two Democratic lawmakers near Minneapolis, killing one of them and injuring another person, including the second lawmaker.

The shooting happened during a time of deep political tension in the United States, as thousands of people were preparing to protest against the policies of Republican President Donald Trump. Officials say the suspect is still on the run, and a large-scale search is underway.

President Donald Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the “terrible act of violence” and promised to bring the attacker to justice.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said the attack took place at the home of former state House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. According to Drew Evans of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the couple was shot earlier, and police found them about 90 minutes later during their investigation.

Evans also told reporters that there was a gunfight between the suspect and police near the couple’s home, but the suspect managed to escape.

ABC News, citing a source involved in the investigation, reported that the attacker may have been disguised as a law enforcement officer during both incidents.
