Provincial Governments to Announce Budgets

All seven provinces of Nepal — Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, Madhesh, and Koshi — are set to announce their budgets for the fiscal year 2082/83 today.

According to the constitution, the federal government must present its budget on Jestha 15, provincial governments on Ashar 1, and local governments on Ashar 10.

The Sudurpaschim Province is expected to bring a budget similar to last year’s, which was Rs. 29.26 billion. Finance Minister Bahadur Singh Thapa is scheduled to present the new budget at 5 PM in the provincial assembly meeting.

Lumbini Province, which had a budget of Rs. 40.47 billion last year, is likely to announce a budget of around Rs. 32 billion this year due to a set budget limit. The provincial assembly meeting for the budget presentation is scheduled for 3 PM today.

In Bagmati Province, which includes the federal capital, the government is preparing to present a budget of around Rs. 68 billion — up from Rs. 62.7 billion in the previous fiscal year. The provincial assembly will meet at 3 PM.

Last year, Madhesh Province had presented a budget of Rs. 44.11 billion.

Koshi Province had brought a budget of Rs. 36.24 billion, and Gandaki Province had presented Rs. 33.42 billion for the fiscal year 2081/82.

The new budgets will include details of income and expenditure plans for each province for the upcoming fiscal year.
