AI isn’t just for chatting—it might just heal your back too. In a surprising and inspiring case, a man who suffered from chronic back pain for 10 years says ChatGPT helped him finally feel relief.
The story was highlighted by OpenAI’s Chairman and Co-founder Greg Brockman, who shared it on his X account after seeing the user’s post on Reddit.
According to the post, the man had seen 7 to 8 physiotherapists over the years. Each expert gave different opinions—some pointed to lateral imbalance, some to core muscle weakness, while others recommended dry needling therapy. Despite trying various exercises and treatments, nothing worked.
Frustrated, he turned to ChatGPT. He shared his full history, symptoms, and something called the LBA method, which focuses on strengthening rather than resting the muscles. Using this data, ChatGPT analyzed the case and provided a clear plan that explained why the pain was happening and what lifestyle and exercise changes could help.
After following the plan for just a few weeks, the man reported a 60–70% improvement in his back pain. He even returned to normal physical activity and started lifting weights again.
OpenAI’s Greg Brockman said, “We still have a long way to go. But this shows AI is already making a real difference in people’s lives.”
Experts believe this is a strong example of how AI can support personal health, especially where traditional methods fall short.
