Police in Dolpa have arrested five individuals for secretly playing cards with money involved. They were caught gambling on the third floor of B&B Hotel in Dunai, the district headquarters.
DSP Rukbahadur Khadka of the Dolpa District Police Office said they will be prosecuted under Section 125 of the Criminal Code, 2074.
Although previous arrests for gambling had not led to cases being filed, this time the police are preparing to register a formal case against the accused.
From the scene, police seized cash totaling Rs. 1,18,275 along with packs of playing cards. Initial investigations revealed that the gambling funds were transacted both in cash and through bank transfers.
