A 15-year-old boy named Aditya Tamang from Sangam Chowk, Shivasatakshi-9, Jhapa, has died after being brutally beaten. He passed away on Wednesday afternoon while receiving treatment at B&C Hospital in Birtamod. With his death, the number of fatalities in this recent assault case has now reached two.
Attacked by Fellow Students
According to eyewitness students, Aditya was attacked by a group of students from Dhruvatara English Secondary School in Dudhe while returning home from tuition classes. The first attack seemed minor, and they told him to leave. But moments later, they called him back and assaulted him again.
Delayed Treatment
Aditya didn’t tell his family about the assault, which led to a delay in medical treatment. Though he was absent from tuition the next day, he still went to school, where he mentioned facial swelling and back pain. As his condition worsened, his family rushed him to the hospital last Friday. Despite treatment, he died four days later.
Earlier Incident Linked
His close friend Roman Thapa, who also attended the same tuition center, had died earlier on Sunday at Birta City Hospital. Both boys were often seen together and may have been targeted as a pair.
Police Take Action
So far, local police have taken six teenagers into custody, who reportedly admitted their involvement in the assault during preliminary questioning. Police believe more people may be involved and further investigation is underway.
Demand for Justice
Both families of the deceased are demanding a fair investigation and strict legal action against those responsible. Classmates of Aditya revealed he had discouraged retaliation after the beating, saying, “Let it go, let’s not fight.”
