Deepika Padukone Makes History as First Indian Actress to Receive Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

In a historic moment for Indian cinema, Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has been announced as one of the honorees for the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2026, making her the first Indian actress to receive this global recognition.

The announcement was made during a live press conference hosted by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at Ovation Hollywood. Deepika’s name was revealed in the Motion Pictures category, placing her alongside renowned Hollywood talents such as Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, and Demi Moore.

Taking to Instagram to express her joy, Deepika simply wrote “Gratitude…” on her Story, letting the milestone speak for itself.

A Milestone Moment

This recognition marks a new chapter in Deepika’s international career, which began with her Hollywood debut in ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage’ opposite Vin Diesel. Since then, the actress has continued to gain global attention for both her acting prowess and her role in shaping global conversations around mental health and representation.

She now joins an elite list of 35 global personalities selected for the 2026 class, which includes stars from various fields including film, television, music, live performance, and sports entertainment.

A Rare Honor

While Indian-origin actor Sabu Dastagir was included in the very first class of the Walk of Fame back in 1960, and Mindy Kaling became the first South Asian woman to be honored earlier this year in 2024, Deepika Padukone now becomes the first Indian female actor to ever receive this honor in the Motion Pictures category.

The names were announced by Walk of Fame members Eugenio Derbez and Richard Blade, who revealed the list of honorees chosen from hundreds of public nominations submitted each year.

Other prominent figures included in the 2026 lineup are Molly Ringwald, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Noah Wyle, former NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, “Good Morning America” hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, and posthumous honorees Carlo Rambaldi and Tony Scott.

Deepika’s Global Legacy

With this honor, Deepika continues to bridge the gap between Bollywood and Hollywood, further establishing Indian talent on the world stage. Her name will soon be etched on the iconic sidewalk in Los Angeles, serving as a lasting tribute to her achievements and a symbol of inspiration for artists worldwide.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony will take place sometime in 2026.
